Hello friends,
My ISP is Sun and i am only getting 1Mbps when i should be getting at least 8Mbp ( or more than1 anyway)
could it be the Thomson Wireless router which pipex sent me which is restricting my Internet SPeed or is it something else and what can I do about it. How can I make it faster . Any one know about this please reply to me

If you using the internet through a telephone line , then download speed can be affected by the distance you are from the telephone exchange . i think this is the one reason

there are number of problems but most of them are as fellow
1. you don't have enough space for the operating system. if your os is installed on c drive then you should have 2GB free space.
2. your line is not clear. there is a noise so make a call to your local phone company and clear the noise.
3. or just make a phone call to your isp to find out the reason of slowness in your connections

Are you sure you aren't getting 1MBps, which is equal to 8Mbps? There are 8 bits in a byte, so 8 megabits per second is 1 megabyte per second.

hi daanish Q, that is teeible you should be getting a lot more from your internet provider but we have a way to get around that call your internet provider and tell them that you want a router for a wireless system you have another computer that you want to install they will send you the junk for you to hook it up but when you get it just hook up your modem and install it but when it ask you to hook up your wireless say no just install your modem that is all it will increase your power to 10 and a half now if they say they do not have that then investigate to find another internet provider. or go talk this problem out with a computer repairman you may a a network card that has quit working for you. good luck hope i was helpful to you
